Plumbing plays vital role in many ‘faucets’ of healthy global future
Press releases 03/02/2018
GUELPH, ONTARIO (March 2, 2018) – SANIFLO® Canada, the worldwide leader in macerating and grinding toilets and drain-water pumping systems, is celebrating World Plumbing Day by recognizing the work of plumbers and reaffirming its own commitment to water-related humanitarian actions around the world. Through their Preferred Installer Program, SANIFLO is proud to support the education and training of skilled, knowledgeable and qualified installers in the plumbing industry.
Since the Preferred Installer Program’s inception five years ago, SANIFLO has certified hundreds of plumbing professionals in how to properly install and service SANIFLO products. With the Canadian housing construction market’s rapid expansion over the past several years, the demand for skilled workers in this industry is rising. The SANIFLO Preferred Installer program allows plumbing professionals to further their skills and services to suit different needs, allowing them to book more clients.
“Plumbing has an important impact on health and living conditions,” says Ross Evans, National Sales Manager, SANIFLO Canada. “As a leading manufacturer of plumbing products, we understand the important role that education and training of qualified plumbing professionals plays in the health and safety of our communities.”
World Plumbing Day was established in 2010 by the World Plumbing Council and is celebrated on March 11 by over 100 member organizations in 23 countries. It aims to bring attention to the work that plumbers do around the world and invites all plumbing professionals to celebrate the importance of safe water and sanitation.
It is estimated that approximately 2.3 billion people live without access to basic sanitation facilities. Despite improvement, more than 840,000 deaths each year are caused by sanitation-related diseases, many of which can be addressed by access to clean water and basic plumbing.
This World Plumbing Day, SANIFLO continues its commitment to the Gbatopé Project in the Togolese Republic (Togo) of West Africa to support sanitation project development. Only 12% of Togolese people have access to sanitation facilities, making it extremely difficult to collect clean water for drinking and food preparation. In addition, the Gbatopé village has just 5 wells and 2 latrines to support a population of 5,542 villagers. This project is aimed at increasing the quality of life for the inhabitants and alleviating water and sanitation issues by building 7 additional wells and 4 blocks of modern sanitation systems.
